BeccaDixRole at Snowball Farm: Instructor

Length of time at Snowball Farm: 2 years in October

How long have you been riding? I started riding on a weekly basis at Wellington Riding when I was 4/5 years old.

Can you remember winning your first rosette? That was with Midget, my first horse, doing 2.9’ show jumping when I was 17.

When you are not working at the yard, what is your favourite thing to do?  Spend time with my friends and family, hang out with my horse Apache and shopping.

What’s the best bit about your job? See the progress with clients and when they experience a sense of achievement towards the end of a lesson.

BeccaDix_ApacheProudest moment? Competing with Apache over the three last weeks and qualifying for the Sunshine Tour at Hickstead in September. We’ll be doing dressage and 90cm showjumping.

Funniest memory? On a college trip with BCA when we visited the New Forest to learn about grass management. We were in a big field with a stream running through the middle. Me and a friend thought it was too far to either of the bridges and decided to cross the stream on foot. I went first and managed fine, but my friend got stuck in the mud and had to continue to trip plastered in mud. I couldn’t stop laughing.

What are your riding ambitions this year?  To do ok at the Sunshine Tour, improve my confidence with showjumping and continue doing more BE90 with Apache. After passing my Stage 3 exam this month, my focus is on getting my AI by the end of the summer.
